For beginner, "one click publish" feature I want.
No configuration! No contract to hosting service!
User click "publish to trial" button, then publish the project into any hosting server on the internet ( Hosting server is Azure provided by Microsoft Officialy ), and "return" url of published!
Yes, user publish with NO configuration, then got url!
Of course, that site volatile 3 days (Why? Because it is "trial").
This idea is from publishing feature of "Microsoft SmallBasic".3 votes
Thank you for this suggestion – we can try to enable this scenario but for the time being you will need to find your own hosting provider.
We list recommended ones here:
In the beta version 2 there is a suggestions popup, if I am writing code. WebMatrix should only replace my code when I tap on ENTER and not with finishing a row with a semicolon in PHP for example... So, I have to replace every time the replacement! That's horrible! Please fix it.6 votes
Thank you for your recommendation. We will add options for what keys trigger code completion based on interest.
It would be awesome if it could simulate master page feature with pure html pages. Dreamweaver simulates this feature with .dwt archives.2 votes
PHP and ASP.NET have features that simulate the concept of template (or “Master”) pages. For example, here is a tutorial on a feature of ASP.NET that allows you to reuse sections of pages across different files, much like a template:
Do you feel that you still need a feature to have master pages for plain HTML files, or would using ASP.NET/PHP be sufficient?
In the first version i was able to rename my sites. Now in the beta version 2.0, I can't do it anymore.10 votes
Seems to be a valid bug; thanks!

This is a valid request; thanks!
Allow the left hand sidbar to be collapsible by clicking anywhere along the it's top bar (not just on the tiny small arrow, then allow it to be opened by clicking anywhere there is whitespace in collasped area.4 votes
Thank you for the suggestion – we’ll consider it based on user demand.
after installing the version 2 beta, which removed 1.0, a few things got dropped in the editor.
1. auto-complete for matching brackets
2. vertical tab lines (which I like to help keep my code lined up nicely)2 votes
Thank you for catching those; we have a new editor component, so we’ll have to see about re-implementing this functionality.
Instead of just allowing to copy and paste one part of code from one file to another, why not have a copy and paste storer box. Once a part of code is copied it will be stored in the box in a numerical order. Then just click the code you want in the box and paste it where you want in any file. Maximum of 6 stores. Also have a delete icon for each stored item so users can delete when not needed anymore to keep tidy.2 votes
Thank you for the suggestion – we will monitor the interest level in this.
By the way, this might be a good candidate for a WebMatrix 2 Extension – learn more about how to make one here:
The Stored procedure could then be called like this:
var users = Data.GetUsers(int Id)
This would make life super easy! :)6 votes
Interesting idea! We’ll consider it based on cost and user demand.
Interesting – let us look into this and get back to you.
The latest beta program crashes whenever I delete a double quote (with delete key not with back space) when editing and aspx file. As soon as I hit the delete key the program has stopped responding window pops up and I need to close. -Running Windows 7 Ultimate with Service Pack 11 vote
Unfortunately we were not able to reproduce your problem… could you copy the contents of a sample file for us to try with?
Also, in the future, please report bugs to our forum:
Thanks for your understanding!
I can Compile MVC project from Expression Blend. can i do same from Webmatrix nor. i need the project comiled if i press Run.
secondly :- sql editor suppport intellisense as well as SSMS1 vote
Unfortunately, you cannot currently compile projects from WebMatrix. It is using more of a “web site” model as opposed to a “web application” model.
As for the SQL IntelliSense, could you describe what kinds of suggestions you were looking for?
You should be able to create new files & rename/delete existing files using Remote View (FTP).1 vote
Thanks for the suggestion! I agree this is really useful and we’re investigating it for our next release.
How has your experience with the remote feature been so far?

In Visual Studio 2010 When selecting a variable by the cursor, all presence of this variable is highlighted in the file. And when the we try to change a variable or function name, Visual Studio prompts the user to update the name of all matching variable in the file.
is there any possibility to add these two functions??

The Auto-Start feature does not work with IIS Express. This feature is essential for testing and developing applications relying on the feature of the "real" IIS 7.5.
A description of auto-start is here <http://weblogs.asp.net/scottgu/archive/2009/09/15/auto-start-asp-net-applications-vs-2010-and-net-4-0-series.aspx>.17 votes
Hi, thanks for the feedback, we are investigating this now.

Not all servers have a direct connection to the Internet. Should be able to select the target OS, select the components you went to end up with on your server and then have everything to achiieve that get download and bundled into something you can then take to your server (which has no connection to the internet) and install.
LightSwitch documentation current specifies WebPI as the way to prepare your server with PreRequisites. But the server may not have web access.19 votes
Thanks for the suggestion! An offline mode for WebPI is something we are strongly considering for the next release!
So people would use the HTTP Server of their choice like Apache or nginx.128 votes
This is an interesting idea; we’ll think about it for our next release!
At least, between ISO-8859-1 and UTF-8, but every supported encoding by Windows is preferred70 votes
Interesting, let’s see how many others would use this feature!
Native support or the possibility to expand the program functionality via plugins so third parties would develop a wrapper for those databases.82 votes
Actually, we currently do support MySQL databases in WebMatrix. In order for this to function, you need to either install an application that uses MySQL, like Wordpress, or use Web Platform Installer to install the MySQL connector manually.
Once those pieces are in place, you can go to the Databases workspace and connect to a MySQL database just like any other.
We’ll take this as a recommendation to add SQLite support; thanks!
